Andrea Arroyo

Andrea Arroyo works in painting, mixed media, public art, and site-specific installation. Her work has been featured in sixty individual exhibitions in the US and abroad. Selected honors include The New York Women’s Foundation Award, The United Nations Lurie Award, the Global Citizen Award Artist, the International Biennial in Cuba, the Hispanic Federation/NoMAA/Google Award, and Official Artist of the Latin Grammy. She was named “Hero of the Pandemic,” Outstanding Woman of New York, Groundbreaking Latina in the Arts, and Outstanding Latina of the Year. She received multiple awards from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance, the Puffin Foundation, and the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council.
Public collections include the National Museum of American History, the Smithsonian Institution, the Library of Congress, the New York Public Library, the Latin Recording Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the Richmond Museum.
Arroyo has created temporary and permanent artworks for the New York Women’s Foundation, the Hispanic Society Museum, the Morris-Jumel Mansion Museum, the International Museum of Women, the United Palace, New York Restoration Project, MTA Arts & Design, and the Percent for Art Program, with permanent Public Art projects in a subway station and two public schools in New York City.
Publications include The New Yorker (cover art,) The New York Times, The Nation, Ms Magazine, and many international journals.
