Bruce Boots
Bruce Boots, Mohawk Bear Clan, is a visual artist and graphic designer. His specialties include illustration, photo editing, airbrushing, tattoo designs, and fine art paintings. His graphic designs can be seen all around Akwesasne from the Mohawk language signs to the Akwesasne Cultural Center to the design of the Indian Time Newspaper where has worked since 2006.
Boots has won numerous art awards including Ganondagan Hodinöhsö:ni Art Show, The Adirondacks Experience – Abenaki & Mohawk Art Market and Juried art Show and the Akwesasne Juried Art Show. The New York State Museum and the Seneca Iroquois National Museum have acquired paintings by Boots for their permanent collections.
Boots’ paintings are his interpretations of venerable legends and stories of the Haudenosaunee, in the genre of the late Ernest Smith, Jim Beaver, and Jesse Cornplanter.
Boots holds a degree in visual communications from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
