Doug George-Kanentiio, Akwesasne Mohawk, is the former editor of the journal Akwesasne Notes. He is also a co-founder of the Native American Journalists Association and served as a land claims negotiator for the Mohawk Nation. He was a trustee for the National Museum of the American Indian, and established Akwesasronon Sonatatenron, the Residential School Survivors of Akwesasne. He is the husband of the late Joanne Shenandoah.
