Hunter Begun
Hunter Begun is a self-taught filmmaker whose work encapsulates how art is created. Often his work is focused on giving other artists and culture bearers a judgement free platform to express their own ideas.
Hunter was born in Southampton, New York and is an enrolled tribal member of the Shinnecock Indian Nation. From an early age he has had a passion for filmmaking and storytelling which has led to him being one of the recipients of the 2022 CRNY AEP grant. He works full time as the Director of Production at Ma’s House BIPOC art studio on his own tribal land.
Hunter controls all aspects of content production at Ma’s House from start to finish including recording all events and working one on one with all the resident artists to document the work they create or, any other idea they may have involving a camera. He is also the host of the Ma’s House podcast in which he interviews all BIPOC artists that are awarded residencies.
