Haitian drummer Jean Mary Brignol has been playing drums since the age of 8 and has had a passion for folklore and drums ever since. As a self-taught drummer, the love of his rich and traditional culture built the foundation of his playing. Now living in New York, he has brought his passion and drumming to a new community and the world. Whether on the stage, in the park, or teaching youth at Flanbwayan Haitian Literacy Project and the public schools, drumming has allowed him many opportunities. Over the years, Jean Mary’s experiences ranged from performing and touring with some of the most prominent Haitian musicians. Artists include Emeline Michel, RAM, and more. Currently, he resides in Brooklyn.
