Karla Slack

Born and raised in Mexico City, Karla Slack is in love with her country, customs, and traditions beginning with a passion for Mexican folklore dance from the age of 8. Karla has over 25 years of teaching experience serving on Casa de Cultura de Acolman, Grupo Mexicatlalli, and dance school programs in Mexico. She holds a high school diploma in art from CEDART Luis Spota. Karla is an interdisciplinary artist, educator and physical and wellness activist who focuses her work around the Mexican traditions, as well she is as master teacher of numerous other dance program nationwide and internationally. Karla has participated in different projects: Escuela de Iniciacion Artistica de Bellas Artes, Casa de la Cultura en Ecatepec, Diplomado en la Secretaria de Educacion de Chiapas, Instituto cultural Alam-Tani, Grupo cultural Tonalli Ambar.

In 2019, Karla joined Grupo Cultural Latinos En Rochester. She is director of the group Alma de Mexico where music and dance is taught to the Rochester Community. Since 2020, she has been a member of the International Council of Dance UNESCO.
