Marthalicia Matarrita

Marthalicia Matarrita was born and raised in Harlem, New York City. She is a visual artist who has worked across disciplines such as drawing, sculpting, painting, and large-scale murals. Her practice includes an artistic dialogue that explores the harmony between animals and humans, in many unique presentations.

She has created graffiti art journals called “black books,” as well as comic books.

Marthalicia graduated from the La Guardia High School of Performance and the Arts, and holds an MFA from SUNY New Palz. She also enlisted and served in the Army National Guard.
