The Collaboration

Parris Whittingham’s studio, From Parris with Love, collaborated with DREAM! to launch DREAM! Studio, a youth-led artist residency for teens ages 15-19. This initiative empowered 22 emerging artists through entrepreneurship training and guaranteed income via artist stipends. Participants gained hands-on experience with contract negotiation, intellectual property law, finance, and studio management, focusing on photography and interdisciplinary arts. In phase two, LR2 Photo Studio joined as a production partner, supported by photographer Yolanda Hoskey and artist Hana Anwar, resulting in two successful exhibitions in the Bronx and Brooklyn. This collaboration resulted in the establishment of DREAM!’s first Youth Advisory Board.

The Organization

Dare to Revitalize Education thru Arts and Mediation (DREAM!)’s mission is to dismantle the school-to-prison pipeline by helping students, educators, families, and underserved communities acquire the practical skills and confidence they need to resolve conflicts creatively and productively, increasing students’ engagement with learning and supporting their personal and academic success.

This work is about restorative practices that redistribute power and agency back to adolescents of color so they can more skillfully navigate systems of oppression and injustice. It has been my deep honor to extend advocacy and support for these amazing teens, who have exceeded all expectations. Parris Whittingham
