The Collaboration

Rebecca Aparicio, Nelson Diaz-Marcano, Janio Marrero, and Alisha Espinosa worked with the Latinx Playwrights Circle (LPC) staff to support the production and development of Latine/x theater in New York City. Through the Page to Stage program, LPC was able to co-produce two Off-Broadway premiere productions while reaching underserved Latine communities as audience members. The program pushed LPC to approach productions the way they wanted them to be produced to great success, enabling them to leverage more collaborations and co-productions to fill their calendars for the next four years. The collaboration also supported the artists’ individual practices as playwrights and actors, providing performance and residency opportunities.

The Organization

LatinX Playwrights Circle’s mission is to create a network of Latinx playwrights and offer space where they can develop new work in an environment that nurtures and uplifts, in order to make their plays accessible to theater makers looking to find the next generation of American storytellers.
