Master Korean Pungmul drummer Vong Pak worked with the MinKwon Center to help expand its capacity for cultural programming, through staging performances and collaborating on events for the community. Pungmul is a traditional music and dance form at risk of extinction from Korea’s farming culture. Pak organized regular Pungmul drumming classes to teach the tradition and inspire community members to learn and continue the art form.

The MinKwon Center for Community Action is a community-based organization serving the Korean American and Asian Pacific American (APA) communities, founded in 1984. They work to empower the Korean American community and work with the wider APA and immigrant communities to achieve economic and social justice for all. They envision a just and equitable society where all people can live in harmony, dream and achieve their full potential.
