The Collaboration
Danielle Schenandoah completely transformed Munson’s institutional sensibility around Native American representation and involvement, strengthening relationships with local Oneida and Mohawk communities.
Danielle was able to share her Oneida culture in a bigger and broader way by acting as the Native cultural liaison for the Oneida community, whose land includes the site of Munson. The collaboration began and ended with an exhibition of Danielle’s work at the museum alongside other Native American artists. The latest exhibition is about Trenton Falls and incorporates translations in the Oneida language, and features contemporary artists as well.
