The Collaboration

The NYC Arts Cypher collaborated with artists Javon Brewster, Omari DeJesus, Dylan Giangrande, and various partners to expand resources for youth in their community on the north shore of Staten Island. Partnering with A Chance In Life, they offered workshops in music, poetry, arts, murals, and hip-hop dance to participants in the Summer Youth Employment Program, UAU, Children’s Aid, and the Youth Leadership Workshop. They also conducted workshops in Stapleton, culminating in murals on the Bay Street corridor promoting positive youth development. In collaboration with the Eagle Academy, Omari led music and poetry workshops for youth in Stapleton. Additionally, the organization partnered with the Central Family Life Center to create the B.E.A.M. program for NYCHA youth in West Brighton, introducing them to hip-hop culture through music and dance. This collaboration has enriched the community, fostering creativity, cultural awareness, and personal growth among the youth.
