The Collaboration

Vee Bravo worked with two cohorts of systems-impacted young people at S.T.R.O.N.G Youth Inc., to create short-format documentaries that explored the relationships between community and incarceration. The first project focused on the role of economics in the formation of prisons. The first cohort canvassed the community for opinions while immersing themselves in the research of incarceration rates and the costs associated with warehousing people in prison. The second cohort worked on a more intimate project that focused on the relationship between a S.T.R.O.N.G program participant, who was incarcerated during the production of the film, and his immediate family. Through workshops, mentoring, and hands-on projects, Vee has empowered young artists to explore and express their creativity. This collaboration has fostered a vibrant community of budding talent, providing them with the tools and support needed to succeed in the arts.
