The Collaboration
Composer Anthony Vine served as a teaching artist with the Filomen M. D’Agostino Greenberg Music School, introducing musicians with vision loss to new ways of listening and engaging with sound. Students in his Comprehensive Music Program for Young People classes composed and improvised, made field recordings, and listened to and discussed a wide array of contemporary and experimental music, ultimately performing their collaborative compositions at an annual concert at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Anthony also gave individual composition lessons and taught courses on electronic music, contemporary piano repertoire, and the physics of sound. Outside of the school, he led field trips to sound art sites in New York City, such as La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela’s “Dream House” and Camille Norment’s solo show at Dia Chelsea. An album of music created and performed in Anthony’s classes will be released digitally and on CD.
