The Collaboration
The LOFT LGBTQ+ Community Center collaborated with Sphynxx and Christina Picciano to empower the LGBTQ+ community in the Hudson Valley through arts and advocacy. Christina brought her experience in songwriting and performance to lead events like The LOFT’s Non-Binary Night Out, Unity Table intergenerational group, LOFT Families, and the Hudson Valley Trans Forum Night of Resilience. Christina also launched Queer Voices, an intergenerational songwriters group, along with an arts training curriculum.
Sphynxx worked in painting, crafts, fashion, hair, music and murals to emphasize mental wellness through their artistic practice. They revived The Artists LOFT, a monthly arts program, and launched Queer Planet, an online group for queer ecology enthusiasts worldwide. For June Pride Month, they curated an LGBTQ+ art experience called “Queer Conscience” at Bethany Arts Community.
Both artists helped build key connections with local organizations including the David Rockefeller Creative Arts Center, Purchase College, and more.
