The Collaboration
Maggie Gavin and Roque Rodriguez collaborated with Woodside on the Move to engage communities affected by COVID isolation. Roque worked with residents of Woodside Houses through writing and performance. Maggie created and piloted a multigenerational dance curriculum, Littles & Laters, designed for grown-ups and kids to explore their creative curiosities together and experience dance and joy in motion. Nested into each class were the core competencies of developmental movement, functional movement, and brain health. Littles & Laters dance classes were offered as a full 12-week semester with a culminating performance or a pop-up workshop. Two culminating performances showcased the pieces that the students had created collaboratively over the course of the semester, as well as a piece of learned choreography.
